Our vision is for a network of regional high temperature thermal treatment (HTTT) facilities where they are most needed in different regions across the UK.
Each facility will be strategically located and will be designed at the optimum size to meet the need to process the clinical and industrial waste generated from within their region. This will significantly reduce the carbon miles associated with transporting waste for treatment.
Before any facility becomes operational, we will need:
- planning consent
- an Environmental Permit from the Environment Agency
- to undertake an extensive commissioning phase to prove the facility meets the regulator’s performance standards
Each facility will also be subject to ongoing and stringent monitoring from Fornax staff within the plant, with data and reports being submitted to the Environment Agency, which will regulate all our facilities throughout their lifetime.
We are committed to being a good neighbour and will work with local communities near our facilities to open dialogue and build a trusting, two-way relationship.
Our first facility is currently being constructed in County Durham in North East England. Details of other proposed sites, which will be elsewhere in the country, will be added as our plans develop.
